Hi frenchrainbow site,
Rainbow Circle (UK) BELTANE CAMP
www.rainbowcircle.co.uk
On an organic farm - ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS -
Opening Friday 25th April '03 - Sunday 4th May '03
A message from Benson
We aim to use the CAFÉ as a communal space (not just for cooking, eating & washing up) but to have fun, song, dance & laughter, making it the focal point for evenings, so, to make this happen we all need to bring things with us; tables, chairs, sofa's, candles, piano, harps, children, friends, table covers, lanterns, more musical instruments, pallets (to turn into sofa's), cushions, carpets and what ever else you can fit in/on your truck, car, trailer, bus, or bike!
Hi family, here are the directions from Andrew, who lives near to the place, we are not generally giving out directions until a couple of weeks before hand, so the farm doesn't get overrun before we get there, It's an organic (biologic) farm and we have been asked to encourage a no dogs policy at the gathering, due to the protection and peace of the animals that live and run around there..... looking forward to seeing you all at Beltane, love and peace, Su (su@spiralwave.co.uk) xxx
Looking forward to it too - if people want to contact me (Andrew) about anything, they can do so either on
(00441) 01 335 342817, or on 0 77 3003 44 66.
I have put a wide range of directions from different directions (so to speak)
Basically, most people won't need much beyond the "what to do when in Kniveton"
Various Levels of directions to Rainbow Circle (UK) BELTANE CAMP
On an organic farm - ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS -
Bob & Mary Smail, Newhouse Farm, Longrose Lane, Kniveton, Derbyshire DE6 1JL
Map Reference (of the actual entrance) SK 4211 3509
on B5035 northeast of Ashbourne on the way to Wirksworth/Matlock
To get there from Ashbourne
aim for B5035 North East signposted to Wirksworth:
In Kniveton, very steep hill down, climb North East other side of the valley. Church on right, in front of village school ahead, when road is about to swerve right - take left hand turn down lane. Follow through houses. When road is about to turn sharply left there are two roads off to right - first road to right (through gate past more houses) leads to camp entrance aboutquarter of a mile straight ahead of you up the road, gate ahead of you when road turns sharp right Second road off to right leads to Newhouse farm (half a mile on the right). To avoid steep hill, turn left at sign for Knivetonwood and follow road into village - 2 roads will be ahead of you as you pass village sign and road turns right.
To get there from Wirksworth/Matlock (A6 North) 8-10 miles
From Matlock take A6 south. At Cromford turn right signposted B5036 to Wirksworth. On hill north of Wirksworth (before railway bridge) turn right onto B5035 (SouthWest) signposted Ashbourne cross over moorland then descend approaching Kniveton - as you go down hill road swerves right then left where the school stands on right. Next to the school turn right and follow lane through houses (if you go past the Church you have missed the turn).
Where road is about to turn sharply left there are two roads off to right - first road right (through gate past more houses) leads to camp entrance which is about quarter of a mile straight up the road, gate ahead of you when road turns sharp right. 2nd road to right leads to Newhouse farm (half a mile on right)
To get there from M1 (north)
Junction 28 A38 south signposted Derby (if unadventurous, stay with A38 through to Derby then take A52 to Ashbourne), after 5 miles slip road A610 signposted Ambergate, at A6 turn right (north). after couple of miles road swerves left then right to cross river, turn left onto B5035 to Wirksworth (3 miles). In Wirksworth turn right then left, up hill, under railway bridge and left onto B5035 (SWest) signposted Ashbourne cross over moorland then descend approaching Kniveton (about 8 miles):
In Kniveton as you go down hill road swerves right then left where the school stands on right. Next to the school turn right and follow lane through houses (if you go past the Church you have missed the turn). Where road is about to turn sharply left there are two roads off to right - first road off to right (through gate past more houses) leads to camp entrance about quarter of a mile straight up the road, gate ahead of you when road turns sharp right. 2nd road to right leads to Newhouse farm (half a mile on right)
To get to Ashbourne from M1 (south)
Recommend Junction 24 (not 23a) A50 signposted Stoke, after about 20 miles, after roundabout slip road left following signs for A515 to Ashbourne (7 miles)(steep hill up), straight on through Ashbourne aiming for B5035 Wirksworth.
If you want to avoid such a steep hill go Junction 25, A52 via Derby and A52 to Ashbourne do not turn off to follow signs for A52 to Ashbourne until you are within the city centre inner ring road (i.e. have been round a roundabout) this will save about an hour (you get sent miles round the southern outer ring road)
To get to Ashbourne from M6 (south)
A38 to Lichfield, A38 towards Burton. for about 8 miles, turn A513 Alrewas and follow signs for Kings Bromley (4 miles), turn right for A515 Ashbourne and keep following the signs (about 22 miles)(if unadventurous, stay with A38 through to Derby then take A52 to Ashbourne) In Ashbourne aim for B5035 Wirksworth
To get to Ashbourne from M6 (north and west)
Junction 15 Stoke on Trent, round tedious ring roads. A52 to Ashbourne (watch it there are a couple of places the road continues but the A52 turns off) (about 22 miles). In Ashbourne aim for B5035 Wirksworth
