Rainbow Gathering on turtle Island
World Peace gathering of Native and Alternative tribes
From July 31st to august 30th 2004 In Quebec
The Rainbow Family of Living Light gathered for the first time in Colorado in 1972.
Today, it gathers for Peace and Healing on the five continents, on a regular basis.
The gatherings of the Rainbow Family are non-politic and non-commercial events. They are made possible by the participation and contribution or each and everyone.
The Rainbow Family is neither a religion, nor a sect.
It encourages the expression of all forms of spirituality and faith, with tolerance to others and respect, or differences.
The Rainbow represents the union of all colours of mankind, or all races and religions, in a circle of Light and Peace.
All the children of Mother Earth are part of a big Family and for this reason, we call ourselves sisters and brothers.
All those who thus realise they belong to a planetary Family want to live in Peace with all the beings surrounding them.
The gathering allows those who love Peace to come together to unite in the process of peacemaking and in the carekeeping of the Earth Mother.
On March 31st 2003 in Brazil during the 3rd Rainbow World gathering, the Rainbow Family was coming from 48 countries. Decided by consensus to gather on three successive occasions in the Americas.
The first of these gatherings happened in El Bolson, in Argentine. For the solar eclipse of November 23rd 2003. The second gathering was held in eastern Costa Rica. From March 4th to April 2nd 2004.
The third and last of the gatherings that came out of the consensus of the Rainbow Family council at the Wor1d gathering in Brazil, will happen in western Quebec, from July 31st to august 30th 2004.
This last event will a1so be the final destination of a caravan that will ride through the Americas along the planetary spine, like a Rainbow serpent awakening the kundalini of the Earth Mother.
This gathering in Quebec will be the first in a series of similar events of continental scale on Turtle Island (North and Central America).
It will start a new tradition for the World Rainbow Family.
Come share your resources, your talents, your knowledge and your experience in the fields of Peace and Healing!
Dogs, weapons, alcohol and drugs are discouraged

Welcome home in the Rainbow Family
An Indian Prophecy: The different Indian tribes were not surprised when landed on their shores white, black and yellow men. Since very ancient times, the prophets had foretold the coming of men of other races. They knew also that these newcomers would submerge the ancient cultures living on this land they used to call Turtle Island at that time. It was also said that later, the spirit of the Indians would find refuge through different races gathered on this Earth. But, only a part of the represented races would become conscious that we form but only one Family. So, regardless of their racial origins, these Rainbow warriors will bring great changes and great transformations regarding the way of living in harmony with Creation and with all human beings
-Heyoehkak Merrifield, Cherokee
We who are brothers and sisters, children of God, Family of Life on Earth, friends of Nature and of all people, children of humankind, calling ourselves Rainbow Family tribe, humbly invite: all races, peoples, tribes, communes, men, women, children, individuals... out of Love; all nations and national leaders, out of Respect; all religions and religious leaders, out of Faith; to join with us in gathering together for the purpose of expressing our sincere desire that there shall be Peace on Earth, Harmony among all people, and to hold open worship, prayers, chanting, or whatever is the want or desire of the people.
But upon the morning of the new moon, on the 15th of august 2004, we will unite in a meditative contemplative silence wherein we, the invited people of the world may consider and give honour and respect to anyone or anything that has aided in the positive evolution of humankind and Nature, upon this, our most beloved and beautiful Mother Earth.
Asking blessing upon we, people of this world in hope that we people can effectively proceed to evolve, expand and live in Harmony and Peace.
The Rainbow Gathering is an opportunity to celebrate human diversity, to venerate the earth, to deepen connections, and to party, to share a community that is beyond the rules of violence, prejudice and caste. The people who gather are a tribe, not of blood, but of spirit, for all are born into it. We are bound together by our desire to live in Peace, to be in the cathedral of Nature and to heal ourselves through union with the Earthly Mother and the Heavenly Father.
(Text inspired from the invitation to the first Rainbow Gathering, in July 1972)
‹‹In 1972, I went to the first Rainbow Gathering and my life turned all around. Now there are old prophecies that at the end of this world, many people of many different nations and tribes would come together to seek a new world and a new way. This would be according to the vision the Creator placed in their hearts. Then, you know, seeing how sincerely they sought this, how deeply they desired it, the Great Spirit would hear the cries of their hearts and take pity on them. At that time, the prophecies said, the new world would be born in the midst of the old. This new world would be very small at first, like a newborn baby. ››
-Manitonquat or Medicine Story, spiritual leader (powwah) and keeper of the lore (minatou) from Assonet, of the Wampanoag Nation, and co-founder of the Rainbow Family of Living Light
‹‹There is truth in the prophecies of the Rainbow and the Rainbow people. People from all of the Americas will unite with people from all the other nations, and they will realise that we are all Family, brothers and sisters. This is not my personal vision, but the cosmic vision presented by all the elders, a vision that we all share. ››
-Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez, president of the Maya Elders Council in Guatemala, keeper of the calendar and the prophecies
‹‹As Native Americans, we believe the Rainbow is a sign from the Spirit in all things. It is a sign of the union of all people, like one big family. The unity of all humanity, many tribes and peoples, is essential. ››
-Thomas Banyacya, late spokesman for the Hopi traditional elders from Hotevilla
‹‹The name Rainbow Warrior symbolises
that you cannot sink an idea, or remove it by force. ››
-Rebeca Johnson, from Greenpeace, at the launching of the Rainbow Warrior II
‹‹This difficult time has seen the beginning of a new nation of multicoloured beings. The seeds of the four directions have mixed together to create the first Rainbow people. It is written in time and in the memory of the Indian peoples that our sun will rise again, that we will be able to re-establish our culture: its arts, sciences, mathematics and religion. Mayan knowledge will come forward again. It is for this reason that we, of the Amerindian communities, are once again uniting to re-establish our entire culture. ››
-Hunbatz Men, hereditary keeper of the Mayan tradition
‹‹Native prophecies say that mixed-blood and white people who grew their hair long and wore beads would come to the Native healers and ask for guidance... The prophecies say that they would return as the Rainbow people in bodies of different colours: red, white, yellow and black. The old ones said that they would return and unite to help restore balance to the Earth. The story of these Rainbow Warriors is told by many peoples in many different ways. We feel that we are in that time now when the Rainbow Warriors are coming about. So it is a time where we have to acknowledge that we are all human beings upon the same planet and that's what the Rainbow Warriors are all about. ››
-Sun Bear, late Ojibway teacher and founder of the Bear Tribe Medicine Society
‹‹In this prophecy, these people would wear feathers and beads and communicate with the flowers. The flowers would guide them and support them as they walked their life paths... This also would be a time when all the esoteric teachings of the world's traditions will be revealed, so there will be no secrets, no reason to fear each other, or to be in conflict. This is certainly what is happening now. Not everyone has the strength or disposition to be a warrior. Many are Rainbow Walkers... They are walking across the Rainbow bridge to a new time. ››
-Oh Shinnah, medicine woman from Tineh (Apache), Mohawk and Scottish origin
‹‹We have the opportunity to build a Rainbow bridge into the Golden Age. But to do this, we must do it together with all the colours of the Rainbow, with all the peoples, all the beings of the world. We who are alive on Earth today are the Rainbow Warriors who face the challenge of building this bridge. ››
-Brooke Medicine Eagle Daughter of the Rainbow, Crow and Lakota medicine woman
‹‹The elders have asked, and this a large council of elders, so to speak to Central and North American peoples, that the morning after each full moon, at about ten A.M., we gather flowers and go outside, and look to the sun, to the flowers and to the heart of the Earth. In so doing, we bring more solar energy and flower wisdom to the Earth, because the New Age is the Age of Flowers. ››
-Dhyani Ywahoo, teacher of the Etowa Cheroqui tradition and master in Tibetan Buddhism
‹‹North America and South America were the site of the First World. While we are now over the threshold of the Fifth World, there are obviously many hangovers still around from the Fourth World... So it will take some time before we can see the full influence of the illumination of the Fifth World. It's happening and you can see it, but you have to look. ››
-Grandmother Twylah Nitsh, of the Seneca Nation, founder of theWolf Clan Teaching Lodge
‹‹The Rainbow is a form of illumination for mankind... One of the signs that our elders looked for in ancient times was a perfect Rainbow, a perfect one... Some of our old people could summon up the Rainbow the way the Native American medicine people could bring the rain. As soon as the Rainbow appeared, our elders would look at it closely, carefully, for little flaws. Were all the colours perfect? Did the Rainbow arc from one place on the Earth to the other or was it incomplete? They'd size it up carefully. That way they would see if Boamie, the Rainbow Serpent, needed something, if it was damaged or incomplete in some ways... The Rainbow will be perfect again as soon as the Sacred Hoop closes, as soon as the Golden Circle of the new world is complete... The Rainbow will again encircle the Earth perfectly, as it was in the beginning. ››
-Lorraine Mafi-Williams or Alinta, spokeswoman for the Council of the Australian Aboriginal Elders from Wollombin
‹‹In the time of the Seventh Fire, a New People would emerge. They would retrace their steps to find the wisdom that was left by the side of the trail long ago. Their steps would take them to the elders, who they would ask to guide them on their journey. If the New People remain strong in their quest, the sacred drum will again sound its voice. There will be an awakening of the people, and the sacred fire will again be lit. At this time, the light-skinned race will be given a choice between two roads. One road is the road of greed and technology without wisdom or respect for life. This road represents a rush to destruction. The other road is spirituality, a slower path that includes respect for all living things. If we choose the spiritual path, we can light yet another fire, an Eight Fire, and begin an extended period of Peace and healthy growth. ››
-Extract from the prophecy of the Seven Fires of the Anishnabe, written on the ancient wampum belt carekept by Grandfather William Commanda, named Chief of the Indians of the Americas in 1957, and founder of the Circle of All Nations
‹‹The time has come to light up the Eight Fire. ››
-Grandfather William Commanda, in august 2002
